Exciting news! MAZE Voices will be competing in a Dutch TV show, showing off our harmonies and unique sound! 🎶

Voice Up Festival invited MAZE to bring their a capella music to the stage in Istanbul! It was such an amazing week, experiencing the Voice Up festival with everyone! With a program filled to the brim, with multiple performances and workshops, we were still able to have time to interact with other vocal groups. And thankfully, there was room for bonding and fun within our own group as well, which was needed with all the new singers we’ve acquired over the last few months! We are beyond grateful for the invite, thanks to @vokal.akademi and @voiceupfest. It was definitely a week to remember!
MAZE was allowed to both open and close this year’s Big Sing Festival in Haarlem! At the beginning of the week we sang with a smaller group together with all participating choirs to warm up the vocal chords. And at the end of the week we were allowed to close the festival with a bang in full strength!
Together with Voisz we got to perform for a sold out Pieterskerk! What a treat to be able to make music together and enjoy each other’s performance!

MAZE Voices is an a cappella family with 22 talented singers.
Their innovative style and pop-rock energy splashes off the stage and is infectious!
MAZE is an award-winning vocal group from Rotterdam led by “choral conductor of the year ’18-’19” Merel Martens. Partly due to the great contribution of the singers themselves, MAZE won the BALK TOPfestival, the most important a cappella festival in the Netherlands, in November 2017.
In addition, MAZE took first prize in the ACA Idol competition at the SingStrong Festival in New York in February 2018 and was named ‘Choir of the Year’ at the Dutch Choir Festival in June 2018.
MAZE works together on the basis of Vocal Leadership. In this we deploy different forms of leadership and team dynamics depending on the question and situation. We use the qualities we have in house, so we let you experience the effects of different leadership and organisational forms.
We don’t just want to sing for you, we want to sing it with you, make it with you, enjoy it with you. Multiplying our love of music with you by sharing it, that’s why we do what we do.
Merel Martens is a full-time choral leader, arranger, teacher and coach. In May 2015 she received a Master’s degree in “Vocal Leadership” from the Royal Conservatory (DK), graduating with Jim Daus Hjernøe, with the highest possible honors. In the Netherlands Merel is known for her involvement with the award-winning vocal groups “Pitch Control”, “VOÏSZ Vocal Projects” and of course “MAZE Voices”. She is also vocal coach for several professional groups: “The Junction” (NL), “Perpetuum Jazzile” (SI), “Vocalocity”(IL) and “The Keystones” (FR). Since November 2015, Merel brings the “Vocal Leadership” method to two Dutch conservatories and trains choral leaders during courses and a master’s program in this relatively new discipline.
